media update: November
You may notice that this is an extremely small media update. I started training for my new (temporary) job, which took literally all month, and it was so brain-intensive that, upon clocking out, I just wanted to do mindless things like watch TV and play Hidden City. There aren't many movies, either, because G and I were playing the Resident Evil 3 remake and Telltale's The Walking Dead and finishing up some TV series.
Coming soon: my "best of 2020" lists!
Asterisks denote something I particularly enjoyed or found especially worthy of my time; double asterisks are reserved for the creme de la creme. As always, your mileage may vary.
FICTION
1. Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane: Lila and Aaron seem to have the perfect marriage, but it's far from it. When Aaron disappears, Lila is extremely worried...because his body isn't where she left it. (This happens in the first couple of chapters and is referenced on the book jacket, so I promise I'm not spoiling anything you don't learn very early on!)
2. White Ivy by Susie Yang: Ivy learns how to shoplift and steal from her immigrant grandmother, lessons that will become invaluable when she gets older and schemes her way into a rich family.

NONFICTION
Nothing this month.

MANGA/GRAPHIC NOVELS
1. I Left the House Today! by Cassandra Calin
2. Venus in the Blind Spot by Junji Ito
2020 total so far: 23 volumes of manga and 13 graphic novels
MOVIES
1. Antebellum: An African-American woman (Janelle Monae) must try to escape from a slave plantation. Hard to review without massive spoilers, so I'll leave it there.
2. Bill & Ted Face the Music: Bill and Ted (Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves) learn that they must save the world by creating a new song. Perhaps you need to have great nostalgia for the original movies to properly enjoy this, but oooooof. There's a funny scene early on that made me think it would be really good, but it was mostly painful.
